I often look in awe at my children’s perfectly lush complexions.  Their skin is clear, bright and oh-so deeply creamy.  Amongst adults, it is common to see skin with enlarged pores, acne, pigmentation and spots. It seems we (mostly women) are constantly searching for the next miracle beauty product to correct our skin ‘flaws’.  Well, I’m gonna tell ‘ya that radiant skin is not found in a jar of face cream. Your face will beam with brightness when your bodies inner processes are functioning optimally.  Although cleansing rituals, serums and moisturisers do play an important part in skin care, obtaining great skin goes much deeper than the surface.  It is actually easy (and inexpensive) to turn your skin from dull to glow.  Here are 4 ways how!

1.  Support your Liver.  Stress, pollutants and eating processed foods compromise our elimination and detoxification pathway – the Liver. If our Liver is not functioning at full capacity then sadly for our complexion, blood-flow will be drawn away from our ‘beauty bits’ (ie: skin, hair, nails) to assist this integral organ.  Take the load off it by ditching processed foods (especially white refined SUGAR) and get some greens into you.. now!!  2 handfuls of leafy greens daily will do wonders toward a healthy glow.

2.  Balance your sex hormones.  The balance between testosterone, progesterone and estrogen is delicate.  Poor diet and stress can really mess that balance up and it shows.. on our skin. Our body is happiest and most balanced when in Parasympathetic Nervous system dominance..  translation – get your yoga on, have a bath with magnesium salts or, simply take 20 deep diagramphatic breaths regularly throughout the day.  What ever it is that helps you spend the most of your day centred in calm.

3.  Hydrate, sweat and sleep .. daily!  Yep, sweating will get the lymphatic system going to eliminate nasties, sleep assists our skin to repair and, we all know that our entire body simply THRIVES on H2O.

4.  Overdose on ANTI-OXIDANTS!  These are the good guys who take down the free radicals that cause disease and accelerated ageing.  The richest forms of antioxidants are in CaCao and Goji Berries a daily tincture of Goji and Schinadra (Dragon Herbs stock a brilliant one!) will ramp up those good guys in your body.

With all that said, I think it’s time to have a green juice, take some deep breaths and get to bed early!  Try the same and watch your skin transform!
