What led you to eat and live in a ‘real and raw’ way?

I eat in a real and raw way in order to practice self love and care. I chose to only prepare meals with love and containing beautiful nourishing ingredients as a way to really appreciate my body and love myself fully. By eating in a ‘raw’ way I guess I am just tapping into what is raw and real for me in each moment/at each meal – so not denying my body of the things it needs, not judging myself if it feels like some sweets or something not so strictly textbook ‘healthy’… Accepting who I am and where I am in every moment is key to eating and living in a real and raw way to me.

What is your absolute fav meal?

It changes all the time, but at the moment I am just really enjoying my greens. So green smoothies with spirulina, banana, mango, coconut water, dates, almonds, spinach, sunwarrior vanilla protein powder.

I do love a good salad packed with quinoa, lots of greens and some protein like boiled egg or tofu/tempeh.

Do you have a healthful morning ritual?

Yes I wake up and say one thing I am grateful for each morning. Then I will drink about one liter of water. Massage my temples and eyes with Nasya Oil (an ayurvedic technique), and then I will move my body for about an hour, either doing Yoga, Running, or Dancing ~ whatever I feel like on the day. Then I have a yummy breakfast, either quinoa / oat porridge or, a big smoothie.

Eating real and raw foods obviously gives many benefits, what extra ‘health habits’ would you recommend?

I practice and teach intuitive eating. So not confining your body to one particular diet or regime. Some days your body may really benefit from pure raw foods, other days you might need some cooked foods, other days you might need some animal protein. I believe our bodies are ever changing, never constantly wanting the same thing day in day out. So it is all about tuning into our bodies, trusting our intuition, and ourselves our inner guide that knows exactly what it is our body is needing in terms of nourishment. So this is how I stay ‘healthy’ in body mind and spirit and I teach others how to do the same.

Who are your health inspirations?

Geneen Roth, author of Women Food & God – for her philosophy on intuitive eating & the connection with food & emotions.

David Wolfe – for his passion and enthusiasm regarding discovering all these freaky new super foods we never knew existed.

Jemma Gawned – owner of Naked Treaties in Byron Bay – for making the best raw treats I have tasted.

You are a Tantric Yoga Instructor, Raw Chef,  Nutritionist Writer and Coach .. do you have a fav role??

I love all these expressions of who I am and what brings me & others joy. I find it hard to stick to one ‘role’ and love one more than the other. And I find myself always expanding, growing, and learning so my roles change very rapidly. I love learning, and I love sharing my gifts with the world. So however that is expressed on any given occasion I am happy with that. The main thing though the undercurrent is spreading love, supporting others in awakening to the truth of who they are, bringing community together and having fun ~ so as long as my ‘role’ is embodying these key elements, all is good.

Please share a healthful recipe with us?

I love raw desserts so I will share with you a recipe for this amazing Raw Orange & Carrot Cheezecake I made recently at a Retreat I did the catering for. (See recipe at the bottom of this post)
